Managing water in various ways.
From flourishing, water saving gardens at home to improving animal welfare in comfortable High Welfare Floor stables, Permavoid is at the core of divergent solutions to improve quality of life.
Solution
Water as building block.

People continously move to large metropolitan areas, resulting in the construction of more buildings and paved areas, which leads to a decrease in green infrastructure. This reduces the capacity for rainwater infiltration which, in combination with an increasing quantity of rainstorms, leads to more frequent and severe occurrences of urban flooding. At the same time built areas collect energy form the sun during the day and radiate this back to the city as heat during the night. In metropolitan areas the night-time temperature can be as much as 8 to 10 degrees than the surrounding countryside.
Where nature creates a microclimate in which it thrives, human settlements suffer from this urban heat-island effect, negatively impacting human lives and well-being.
We believe that no opportunity can be overlooked when it comes to enableing stormwater to improve quality of life.
Process
How does it work?
There are multiple applications where the Permavoid technology is of great use. To put it simple and clear; we understand the ways in which we can all benefit from managing water. That's why for the past 25 years specialized partners have reached out to us to cooperate. For example, for temporary sports events we have developed a FIH approved portable hockey pitch system where each layer of the system is reusable over and over. We've installed driving ranges on Italian cruise ships to play golf, smart easy-to-install home solutions and made sure animals are taken care of with HWF stables.
System functionality

The hollow Permavoid subbase makes it possible to store more rainwater in lightweight geocellular units underneath the soil in podium decks, blue-green roof systems and roof gardens. This stored rainwater is made available to the plants by capillary rise through capillary fibre columns in the Permavoid units. This nature- based solution of capillary irrigation eliminates the need for drip lines, valves, hoses, pumps and the associated maintenance requirements. Water is available for the plants when they need it, naturally, on-demand, and most importantly without the use of energy; just like in nature.
Water is the key to successful green infrastructure at any level, in every green design. Keep rainwater out of the sewer and put it to work to support, biodiversity and help cool the urban environment.
